Tennessee Nursing and Health Care Schools

According to the Tennessee Hospital Association, The Volunteer State's health care industry is booming, offering in demand jobs with excellent benefits. Health care industry growth in the state is expected to produce more than half of the medical and health services management jobs, and 72 percent of the medical assisting jobs projected for 2014 in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Department of Labor statistics suggest that employers prefer to take on medical assistants with either a certificate or associate's degree. Tennessee nurses should have a certificate, associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing. Nurses must pass a national nursing examination to earn a Tennessee nursing license. Most medical and health services managers in this state hold a master's degree in business administration (MBA), although some entry-level jobs only require a bachelor's degree. The first step toward a nursing or health care career in the Volunteer State is one of the medical education programs in Tennessee.
