"Nursing Burnout" is a term we hear often. Anyone can suffer from burnout--feeling seriously stressed and unable to cope. But burnout can be avoided when you learn about its causes and symptoms, how to recognize the problem, and ways that you can change your environment to reduce stressful situations. We can never totally eliminate stress but we can learn how to manage it and how to use it to help us. Managing stress and preventing job burnout consists of finding the optimal level of stress which will individually motivate but not overwhelm each of us. This section provides stress-management information and resources to help nurses and caregivers deal with job-related stress.
